FISHERNET was created to bring together a Europe-wide network of people and organisations with an interest in fishing cultural heritage, and developed with the support of the European Commission through the Culture Programme. The legacy of Fishernet has been the continuation of associations and cultural programming.
West Side Cinema in Stromness was established in 2012 as a voluntary run not-for-profit organisation. Its aims are to show award winning international feature length and short films, and to facilitate talks and workshops connected with those films.
FISHERNET ORKNEY is the start of a new chapter in the ongoing FISHERNET programme.
